This document states the terms and conditions of service, between the client (“students” and/or “parent” or “guardian”) and Spencer’s String Studio (“teacher”, “our”, “we”), as well as any business subcontracted by Spencer’s String Studio to provide teaching services, and is subject to laws and regulations of Victoria, Australia. Any bookings made with us are subject to these terms & conditions, and agreeing to schedule bookings or paying for bookings will represent an agreement to these terms and conditions.

If any provision of this agreement shall be held or made invalid by a court decision, statute or rule, or shall be otherwise rendered invalid, the remainder of this agreement shall not be affected thereby.

Music lessons will be taught from the studio at the residence of the teacher. Students will need to attend the teaching studio at the residence to participate in their lesson, and while on the property will be under the teacher’s duty of care. The studio is covered by our Public Liability insurance, and teachers will do everything reasonable to avoid dangerous conditions. All teachers hold a current Working with Children Check. Supervision is provided during the booked lesson time - children must be dropped off and picked up on time as childcare is not provided.

Lessons are $40 for 30 min, and $70 for 1 hour. The booked lesson time involves entry, exit, instrument setup and tuning, physical warmups, as well as theory, performance and technical instruction. Musical progress is highly dependent on the student practising outside of the booked lesson time. Progress and results are not guaranteed, but with consistent and directed practise, are highly likely. Injury as a result of practising music, as well as differences in professional opinion, are covered by our Professional Indemnity insurance.

Lessons will be booked for a regular time and day of the week (though some variation is acceptable), for the period of a school term (scheduled similar to the public school term in Victoria), or the remainder of the term. Invoices will be issued for the full term, half-term, or remainder of the term. Invoices will be due 2 weeks from the date of issue. If payment is not made by the invoice due date, further lessons may be cancelled (the client will be notified before cancellation).

 

Lessons may also be booked and paid for at time of booking, via our website (www.spencersstringstudio.com), when available.

Any cancellation or rescheduling must be communicated before the start of the relevant lesson, so it may be rescheduled (where possible), refunded or credited for the next term, at the discretion of the client. If no notice is given before the start of the lesson, the lesson may not be refunded (exceptions can be made for emergency and unforeseen circumstances, subject to the discretion of the teacher).

We reserve the right to refuse service and cancel lessons when necessary. We will provide notification to the client of any cancellation, and these cancelled lessons will also be rescheduled (where possible), refunded or credited for the next term, at the discretion of the client.
